Jenni & Jared are planning their Fall wedding for Spruce Mountain Ranch. To add variety to their portraits we chose to take their engagement photos in downtown Denver. That way they have both the epic city and mountain view images.
Advice from a Denver Engagement Photographer
Downtown Denver is full of epic locations for portraits. You have Union Station, rooftops with city and mountain views. Also beautiful courthouse buildings like the one we used for these portraits. The trick with photographing in downtown Denver is getting to the locations before or without the crowds. If you have been to Union Station anytime recently you will remember that it is absolutely full of people for the majority of the day. So here is the trick… You need to start before the crowds wake up! Sunrise sessions are a huge success for navigating the busy downtown. This does require getting up earlier in the day than you might be used to, but to get the gorgeous city views in popular locations this is a must.
Now to get back to discussing this session. Jenni and Jared were going for a bright and elegant vision for their engagement portraits. They chose simple yet classy attire, mostly neutral colors that allowed them to stand out just the right amount from their environment. We loved using the pillars and steps of this old building. As a fine art photographer the lines the architecture creates fuel my creativity.
I, Taylor, used a mix of both medium format film and digital images for their session. My film was developed and scanned by Photovision. I am already excited to see the film scans from their wedding day this Fall!
