Our next Colorado wedding vendor to be interviewed is Trista Skinner and she is a wedding hair stylist! I had the privilege of working with Trista last Summer for a styled wedding! I love the hair styles she creates for weddings, especially the romantic messy updos! So if you have questions about your wedding hair style, or are contemplating on whether or not to hire a hair stylist I highly recommend you keep reading for Trista’s interview!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get into wedding hair?
Hi!! My name is Trista Skinner and I am a Colorado Native from the Brighton area! I loved growing up in such a small town playing basketball and golf! I love the outdoors and for most of the summer weekends you can catch me out on a lake boating! I graduated from Paul Mitchell the School of Denver where I spent a year and a half expanding my education and perfecting my craft. I am so excited to be a Stylist at Honeycomb Hair Salon where I can pamper my guests in the best way I know how. If I’m not styling in the salon, you’ll probably find me doing wedding hair!

2.Why is having your hair styled for your wedding important/helpful?
Having your hair styled on your wedding day takes the stress and pressure off of the bride! It allows the bride to relax and enjoy her special day!

3. Do you have any tips for brides when it comes to their wedding hair styling, anything brides commonly overlook?
So brides tend to over look their dress style and fit. Which is so common because most brides only get to try on the dress a few times before the wedding. What I always recommend for brides is look at the way your dress fits on the upper part of your body. For example if you have a higher neck line or with simple or more dramatic straps I always recommend putting the hair up in an updo so that way your hair isn’t taking away from your dress. But if you have more of a strapless dress I always recommend hair down. I believe the hair helps enhance more of the strapless look on a bride. These styles are just what I recommend, it is the bride’s choice!

4. What do you need to know from a bride to styler her hair on her wedding day?
I always ask my brides a few questions first. One is “how well does your hair curl? What look are you going for? And does your hair curl better right after you wash and blow dry it or a day after you wash it? These questions are always good for me to know so it makes my job more efficient and keeping the bride happier with her results!

5. Would you recommend a hair trial?
I always recommend a hair trial! I believe that doing a hair trial is a great chance for you and your hairstylist to come together with a game plan before the big day! I always love hearing feedback after I do a trial run on my bride on things I can do better on or if they want to change certain things as well!

6. What are style tips for thin hair?
What I recommend for my brides with thin hair is either putting the hair up in an updo or getting extensions to make your hair full! (And if you’re wanting to get extensions please talk to your hairstylist, so that way they can get you extensions that will best fit you!)

7. When should a bride book her Hair stylist?
I think a bride should book her hairstylist when she’s booking everything else for her wedding. I believe that including your hair is a huge part in your wedding budget. If you want to get to know more about Trista go check out her social media:
